Lonlin Court Issues Judicial Protection Order for Ancient Tea Trees
On August 15, which coincided with the second National Ecological Day, the Lonlin Court issued a judicial protection order for ancient tea trees and organized a series of activities including extensive legal publicity and visits to tea companies. These actions further embodied the principle that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. The issuance of the judicial protection order reinforces the legal barrier for the protection of ancient tea trees. The wild ancient tea trees in Lonlin are widely distributed, dense, old, and numerous, making them an essential component of the ecosystem and playing a unique role in maintaining ecological balance and biodiversity. To fully leverage the law's functions of punishment, deterrence, guidance, and evaluation, the Lonlin Court took advantage of the second National Ecological Day to issue the "Lonlin Autonomous County People's Court Judicial Protection Order for Ancient Tea Trees." The order was publicly displayed at the entrance to the ancient tea tree forest in Tangshi Shangba Village, De'eo Town, Lonlin. The protection order is based on the principles of prioritizing protection and prevention and sets out seven prohibitions according to relevant regulations such as the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China, the Forest Law of…- 0

Zhaowan Township: Brothers Lead Neighboring Villages to Develop Tea Industry for Revitalization Through Collective Efforts
In the mountainous northwest of Hubei, on the "Roof of Gucheng" at an average altitude of over a thousand meters in Zhaowan Township, there are two brothers who serve as the Party branch secretaries of two adjacent villages. Their story of sharing resources and collectively developing the tea industry to lead the locals to prosperity and a moderately prosperous life is widely known. "How's the quality of the tea processed by the mechanical arms?" "Not bad, I'll come and process a couple of batches myself then." At the end of June, Wang Anjun, the Party branch secretary of Taozhuang Village, brought his younger brother Wang Anhua to visit the newly purchased equipment in the village. Wang Anhua is the Party branch secretary of Changling Village, and had been worried about the tea production due to insufficient funds to build a new production line. "Brother, can we join forces to build a medium-sized tea processing factory? This way, we can share equipment and labor, saving costs and increasing efficiency," Wang Anhua asked, looking at Wang Anjun. Wang Anjun nodded in agreement, saying, "That's exactly what I was thinking. Let's do this together." Taozhuang Village and Changling Village are both high-altitude villages,…- 0

Live Streaming + Training, Nanhua Village’s Tea Industry Embraces New Vitality
"Hello tea enthusiasts, everyone. I'm Na Fa, the secretary of Nanhua Village in Nanmei Township. Welcome to our live stream...” After completing his daily tasks and without any special events, at 9:00 PM every night, the Douyin live streaming room of the Nanhua Village cooperative goes live on schedule. To increase the visibility of Nanhua Village's teas and broaden their sales channels, since December 2023, Nanhua Village has been preparing to establish a live streaming team. To date, through live streaming, they have helped local tea farmers sell 0.6 tons of tea and over 400 units of agricultural specialty products, increasing farmers' incomes by over 80,000 yuan. This has, to some extent, increased the exposure of Nanhua Village's tea products and enabled high-quality Nanhua tea to reach a wider audience. However, issues such as non-standard product labels, unprofessional live streaming language, and a lack of product variety have become increasingly apparent. To address these practical problems, with the support and concern of the District Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the District Market Supervision Administration Bureau, Nanmei Township organized training sessions in Nanhua Village for the standardization of tea product labeling, Mandarin learning, and honey sales.…- 0

The “Tea Planting Gospel” of Jiuban Family Farm in Shengzhou City
The Jiuban Family Farm in Shengzhou City has over 60 mu of tea gardens, with varieties including Wuniuzao, Longjing 43, Golden Bud, and Yuehuang No.1, mainly producing black tea. In 2021, they produced more than 2,000 catties of black tea, selling at an average price of 200 RMB per catty. Their products are well-received, which is mainly attributed to the following two aspects: Firstly, ecological planting. No chemical pesticides are used in the tea garden; instead, lime-sulfur mixture is applied in winter to seal the garden, and no chemical fertilizers are used, only pig manure that has been fermented is applied. Newly developed tea gardens do not use herbicides for weed control, allowing grasses and tea plants to coexist harmoniously. Pig manure is fermented in bags for 5-6 months before being applied to the soil. Secondly, a craftsman's approach to production. They have sought out masters of black tea production to improve themselves while continuously experimenting and exploring, summarizing a complete set of black tea processing techniques. They follow these established processes with dedication when making their tea. Good raw materials combined with meticulous production naturally result in high-quality products.- 0

The tea cured the officials of the miasma they had contracted. In gratitude, Lu Jie gifted the grandmother a bar of gold and presented the tea to the imperial court. Since then, the tea has been known for its reputation of being "worth an ounce of gold for an ounce of tea." In addition to preserving tea culture, the village also emphasizes innovative development. In recent years, the village has…- 0

Purpose of Puer Tea Rolling
The rolling of Puer tea is the first process after the tea has been subjected to initial heat treatment (withering). Traditionally, the method involves transferring the withered tea from the wok onto bamboo mats, wide wooden boards, or clean cement floors, where the tea is manually "rolled" and "twisted" by hand. This action is somewhat similar to kneading flour. So, what is the purpose of rolling Puer tea? Puer Tea Rolling Methods 1. Manual Rolling The manual rolling of Puer tea typically requires two rounds of rolling. The first round occurs after the tea has been withered and laid out to cool; it is rolled until the leaves are mostly in strip form and tea juice begins to seep out. The leaves are then left to dry until the next morning before undergoing a second round of rolling to ensure that even the coarser and older stems and leaves are tightly formed into strips. A special bamboo-made rolling mat is used for this process. The rolling technique requires circular, complete, and coordinated movements that are both firm and gentle, ensuring that the tea leaves are evenly pressured and conducive to forming strips. The duration and strength of the rolling are…- 0

Countermeasures for Low Temperature and Freezing Damage in Guizhou’s Spring Tea Gardens
Since February 22, most areas of our province, except some tea regions in Qiandongnan and Qiannan such as Qiannanwest, have suffered from a sudden drop in temperature and extreme weather conditions of low temperature and freezing. Preliminary investigations indicate that tea trees in various tea regions have shown varying degrees of symptoms of low-temperature stress, with more severe impacts in higher altitude tea gardens, leading to reduced yields or delayed picking. To mitigate the effects of low temperatures and freezing on spring tea, experts from the Tea Special Task Force, Guizhou Tea Research Institute, Zunyi Comprehensive Test Station of the National Tea Industry Technology System, and Guizhou Province Tea Industry Technology System have jointly studied and proposed the following remedial measures: 1. Timely and Moderate Pruning After temperatures stabilize, prune according to the degree of freezing damage to the tea plants, removing frozen branches and leaves promptly. Pruning should be carried out after the temperature rises and will not cause further serious freezing damage. The depth of pruning should vary depending on the severity of the freeze, ideally cutting 2-3 cm deeper than the dead tissue. For lightly frozen tea plants where only the edges of mature leaves or winter…- 0

Enshi Prefecture’s Mechanized Summer and Autumn Tea Harvest Paves a Path to Prosperity for Tea Farmers
In the height of summer, tea gardens across Hefeng County in Enshi Prefecture buzz with activity. Once neglected summer and autumn teas have become highly sought after due to the use of mechanized tea harvesters. Processing these off-season teas has not only increased the average yield per acre but also bolstered the economic returns for tea farmers. In recent days, in Guanding Village, Zouma Town, Hefeng County, local resident Chen Yonghong has been busy picking summer tea alongside his family. With the help of mechanized tea pickers, they can harvest over 2,000 pounds in a day, which can fetch around 3,000 yuan at current market prices. Local tea farmers explain that hand-picking is inefficient, and once the tea garden reaches a certain size, timely harvesting becomes challenging, leading to unsold tea. Furthermore, because summer and autumn teas sell for much less than spring teas, farmers often opt not to harvest them, resulting in waste. While villagers are busy picking, nearby enterprises are busy processing. Locals deliver several loads of fresh tea leaves daily to a tea company in Enshi Prefecture. Inside the factory, machines hum as more than 20 workers work overtime to fill orders from Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, and…- 0

Zhong Shanshan’s CCTV Interview: From Oriental Leaf to Tea Industry, Nongfu Spring Aims to Move Upstream
"Elon Musk is doing something earth-shattering; I'm not that great. But I've maintained a normal income for farmers, which is my contribution, and I am proud of it." On the evening of August 10th, during the CCTV program "Dialogue," Zhong Shanshan addressed issues such as being China's richest man, online attacks, internet traffic, slowness, competition, and succession for the first time in a systematic manner. This statement perhaps best represents Zhong Shanshan's mindset. Moving from selling water downstream to farming upstream, whether it's Gan'nan navel oranges or Yili apples, Nongfu Spring's investments have been unprofitable so far, but Zhong Shanshan remains content. Even though Oriental Leaf has become a super hit, he is still committed to entering the tea industry. Zhong Shanshan sees all this as "strategic losses," but after more than a decade of such losses, it is difficult to explain them solely through commercial logic. The true reason lies within Zhong Shanshan's heart, where there resides an "idealistic madman." The Seven-Year Loss of Oriental Leaf "Our tea has been around since 2012, 2013, and for over a decade, we didn't make any profit for the first six years, but by 2021, our growth curve started to rise." "The Xihu District of Hangzhou City should earnestly implement the important concept of 'two mountains' put forward by President Xi Jinping and accelerate the industrialization work of Xihu White Tea. Further efforts should be made to speed up the construction of 'Hangzhou standards,' incorporating Xihu White Tea into a high-standard system, achieving precise management of production data and online digital management of labels; realize high-level management by including Xihu White Tea in a sound institutional protection system, strengthening administrative law enforcement and collaborative protection; particularly strengthen high-quality promotion by establishing and improving inspection, testing, and quality management systems, formulating a series of standards for 'one green, one red, and one white.'” This is the suggestion from Li Hong, a member of the CPPCC Xihu District Committee. Tea is the national drink, and Hangzhou is its capital. As one of Hangzhou's 'golden business cards,' the Zhuantang Subdistrict, known as the birthplace of West Lake Longjing tea, has long been referred to as a 'century-old tea town with a myriad-tan tea country.' Tea has become an important carrier for the high-quality development of local agriculture. How is Mi Di Pu’er Tea Made? The Production Method of Mi Di Tea
Mi Di tea has finer twists, many buds, a yellow-green broth, and distinct bitterness and astringency, with the bitterness more pronounced than the astringency. The bitterness transforms into a sweet aftertaste, and there is a hint of orchid fragrance in the tea aroma. Despite its low yield, Mi Di tea is of high quality and favored by many tea enthusiasts. So how is Mi Di Pu'er tea produced? The Production Method of Mi Di Tea 1. Withering: This process allows for the loss of some of the moisture in the fresh leaves. During the moisture loss, some aroma compounds are formed, and some large-molecule ester-soluble sugars are hydrolyzed into small-molecule water-soluble sugars. 2. Fixation: The raw material used for Pu'er raw tea is Yunnan large-leaf sun-dried green tea. Sun-dried green tea is often pan-fired. Due to the high moisture content of the large-leaf variety, fixation must combine covering and shaking to ensure uniform moisture loss and quickly deactivate enzyme activity at high temperatures to prevent oxidation of polyphenols. Some of the moisture is also evaporated, making it easier to roll the leaves into strips. 3. Rolling: This breaks down the cells of the tea leaves to ensure that the tea…- 0
