In the first half of 2024, the Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province saw 1,214,500 mu (approximately 80,966 hectares) of tea gardens in production, achieving a total output of 41,000 tons and a total value of 10.63 billion RMB, with year-on-year increases of 8.14% and 11.34%, respectively. By adhering to green and high-quality development and maintaining the “clean tea” baseline, as well as persisting in science and technology innovation for mechanized management, intelligent processing, and digital blending in tea gardens, the “friend circle” of the Douyun Maojian brand has continued to expand. The Douyun Maojian tea is accelerating its “exit from the mountains and seas.”
Through the leadership of leading enterprises, Qiannan Prefecture has facilitated SC-certified companies to form a “production, supply, and sales” alliance. Gu Jingsheng, Chairman of Douyun Maojian Tea Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., stated that the region is currently accelerating the integration of advantageous single products and refined blending of tea to ensure stable quality. Of the 869 tea companies, 147 have obtained SC certification.

Downstream in the tea processing industry, Qiannan Prefecture has introduced a number of high-quality deep-processing enterprises focused on organic fertilizer processing, tea tourism integration, tea cultural and creative products, tea health products, tea foods, tea beverages, and tea daily chemical products, enhancing the utilization rate of tea residues, dust, and stems. The “Cloud Sea Tea Tour – Heartfelt Journey with Maojian” was selected as one of the top 20 tea tourism routes nationwide.
“From tea garden to teacup, we strive to achieve full-process quality supervision of the tea industry,” said Tan Zhongyin, Party Secretary of Yunwu Town, Guiding County, Qiannan Prefecture. Through promoting integrated prevention and control technologies such as green prevention, biological control of tea garden pests and diseases, and physical prevention, as well as routine yield measurement demonstrations in tea gardens and product traceability management, establishing dedicated counters for tea agricultural inputs in key tea areas, and creating a comprehensive service and supply system that includes tea-specific fertilizers, organic fertilizers, pesticides, and green prevention materials, the local area is continuously improving its three-dimensional ecological development model for tea gardens.

The regional public brand value of Douyun Maojian has increased from 1.378 billion RMB in 2010 to 5.223 billion RMB in 2024. Douyun Maojian tea is now exported to regions such as the European Union, Morocco, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

According to information obtained at the “7th China Tea Import and Export Trade Annual Conference & Douyun Maojian Tea Conference” held in Douyun, Guizhou, on August 4th, the annual processing capacity of tea processing enterprises in Qiannan Prefecture currently stands at 150,000 tons. These enterprises have cumulatively involved 103,700 households and 278,800 agricultural population in the tea industry, with the average annual income of tea farmers increasing from 0.22 million RMB in 2014 to 1.75 million RMB in 2023.
