Tender buds fragrant and spirited, I say they're the finest of Herbs.
— “Tea Poem” by Zheng Ao
The misty and drizzly Longhua, with its suitable temperature and Humidity, and naturally selenium-rich soil, gives birth to Longhua tea.
Longhua tea boasts a clear and bright broth, a pure aroma, and an exquisite sweetness that lingers on the palate.
Development of Longhua Selenium-Rich Tea
Longhua Town is 80 kilometers away from Pingshan County and covers an area of 181 square kilometers. Tea is the leading industry in Longhua Town, with a total tea garden area of 41,000 mu, of which nearly 37,000 mu are in full production. The majority of the tea gardens' soil is rich in minerals such as “selenium” and “strontium,” hence it is also known as Longhua selenium-rich tea.
Since 2023, following the requirements for high-quality development set forth by central, provincial, municipal, and county-level authorities, Longhua Town has vigorously developed its leading tea industry. By improving infrastructure, introducing high-quality tea seedlings, optimizing cultivation techniques, and strengthening scientific management, the town has established 500 mu of organic tea gardens in Baxianshan Village, 500 mu of selenium-rich tea demonstration bases in Renmin Village, and 400 mu of high-standard tea industrial parks in Fuxing Village. There are eight standardized tea processing factories in place. At the same time, the Longhua Party Committee and government have focused on addressing the issues of poor quality and low prices of summer and autumn teas. They have implemented comprehensive measures for improvement in management, picking, procurement, and processing to enhance the quality and efficiency of summer and autumn teas, thereby increasing farmers' income.
Survey Data
According to survey statistics:
Tea-growing households in Longhua Town
Account for over 80% of the town's residents.
Summer and autumn tea production
Makes up around 60% of the annual tea output.
According to research conducted by relevant departments:
This year, summer and autumn teas subject to quality enhancement measures saw a 12% increase in production compared to those not subject to these measures.
The annual tea industry value is expected to grow by 30 million yuan compared to last year.
Full Efforts to Enhance Quality and Efficiency
In 2023, Longhua Town secured 2 million yuan in funding to promote the quality and efficiency improvement of summer and autumn teas. The main guidance provided to tea farmers for quality and efficiency improvement in summer and autumn teas includes the following four aspects:
First, guiding standardized pruning of tea plants. After Spring Tea harvesting, due to farmers' lack of pruning management, the summer and autumn teas picked do not meet the standards for premium teas. The Agricultural Technology Comprehensive Service Center guides farmers to manage the pruning of tea plants scientifically and in a standardized manner, ensuring the quality of summer premium teas, one-bud-one-leaf, and one-bud-two-leaves, thus enhancing the quality of tea picking and the overall quality of the tea.
Second, guiding winter and spring protection. Scientifically conducting pest and disease prevention for tea plants, timely fertilization, and ensuring the safety and quality of tea production. Farmers engaged in quality improvement are given fertilizer subsidies based on the acreage implemented.
Third, guiding the selective cutting of shading trees. Conducting selective cutting of dense and disordered trees within tea gardens provides ample sunlight for understory tea plants, reducing competition for nutrients, and creating better growth conditions for tea plants.
Fourth, guiding standardized picking. The Agricultural Technology Comprehensive Service Center conducts summer and autumn tea picking standard training sessions in various villages, ensuring standardized picking of tea leaves to improve their quality and transform the picking of summer and autumn teas from low-priced bulk teas to higher-priced premium teas.

To effectively improve the quality of teas, actively guide farmers to change their mindset through management guidance, fertilizer subsidies, technical support, and local procurement and processing, ensuring an integrated system for the picking, management, and sales of summer and autumn teas.
To enhance the influence of Longhua selenium-rich tea, efforts have been made to create local brands and conduct brand promotion, successfully registering the selenium-rich tea brands “Fuding Tribute Tea” and “Wupan Silver Tip.” These actions further elevate product influence and inject momentum into the development of the tea industry in Longhua Town, providing service guarantees for farmers' increased income.
