Nanjian County is a primary tea-producing county in our prefecture, a high-quality pollution-free tea base county in the province, and a key regional planning base county for tea production nationwide. It has a tea garden area of over 120,000 mu, with an annual output value of the tea industry exceeding 2 billion yuan. This year, the county has continued to prioritize the tea industry as its dominant industry, aiming to build itself into a strong county with green and beautiful tea areas. Various measures have been implemented to promote the healthy development of the tea industry.
Strengthening follow-up management of project implementation. Central fiscal funds totaling 8 million yuan have been invested in the “One County One Industry” construction project in Nanjian County, leading to the establishment of 19 standardized preliminary processing plants and 42 mini tea preliminary processing plants, as well as the renovation and upgrade of 12 standardized preliminary processing plants. To fully understand the operational status of these newly built or upgraded tea preliminary processing plants and prevent them from being left idle or used for other purposes after completion, during the Spring Tea picking season, the “One County One Industry” office organized work teams to visit each of these processing plants multiple times to learn about their business operations and urged tea companies and specialized cooperatives to do a good job with spring tea production.
Organizing enterprises to participate in exhibitions and field trips. In the first half of this year, tea companies and specialized cooperatives were organized to participate in the 16th Kunming Tea Expo, the Beijing Chaoyang International Tea Culture Festival, and other exhibition activities, promoting and selling Nanjian teas. The products “Wuliang Yubi” White Tea buds and “Yunduan Fengyi” white tea by Nanjian Wuliang Mountain 25th Parallel Tea Co., Ltd. and Yunnan Pinhua Modern Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. respectively were showcased at the main venue of the 4th National White Tea Conference, appearing alongside famous white teas from renowned producing areas across the country, showcasing the charm of high-altitude white teas from Wuliang Mountain in Nanjian. Together with the county's Tea Circulation Association, member units were organized to go on field trips to learn from others, assisting tea companies in exploring new models and paths for innovative development.
Orderly advancing research on Nanjian white tea. In 2023, the Nanjian County People's Government signed a three-year cooperation agreement with the Tea Research Institute of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, establishing the Nanjian Wuliang Mountain White Tea Research Center. Relying on the expert team led by Liu Benying, the center conducts research and development of new white tea products, writes monographs, applies for geographical indication marks, conducts reviews and filings, and provides training for tea science talents. Since the beginning of this year, the “One County One Industry” office has cooperated with the research center to conduct in-depth surveys and sample collection at tea companies and tea gardens multiple times, held work promotion meetings and consultations on group standards, and has already completed the analysis of the first round of 27 white tea samples from Wuliang Mountain, providing data support for the formulation of white tea group standards and the publication of monographs. Data collection equipment has been installed in the tea Tree germplasm field for the pilot construction and analysis of digital tea gardens.
Strengthening brand building for tea. Actively applying for various activities organized by the tea industry to promote Nanjian tea and enhance its reputation and popularity. Since the beginning of this year, the application process for the “2024 China Good Green Tea,” “China Good Green Tea Map,” and “National Tribute Tea Map” issued by the China Agricultural International Cooperation Promotion Association has been completed, with “Nanjian Green Tea” becoming a recommended regional public brand by the organizing committee of the 2024 China Good Green Tea Conference; the survey on white tea production and sales and the 2024 tea-producing county survey issued by the China Tea Circulation Association have been completed, and participation in the “Drink the First Spring Tea” most beautiful tea garden and joyful tea life collection activity has taken place. Through the application and participation in these series of activities, continuous efforts are made to strengthen the brand building of Nanjian tea, enhance its reputation and added value, and make more people aware of Nanjian tea.
