Teams delving into the Tea mountains, stages built at village entrances, technology reaching hearts, free clinics entering homes… Since July 2024, Menghai County in the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture has focused on development goals and positioning. By telling the stories of five ancient tea mountains—Banzhang, He Kai, Nannuo Mountain, Zhanglang, and Nanben Old Village—the county has adopted the theme of “The ‘Culture-Science-Health Three-to-the-Countryside' Activities Supporting the Integrated Development of First, Second, and Third Industries in Ancient Tea Mountains.” It is progressively writing five major chapters on “Tea Leadership,” “Tea Culture,” “Tea Science and Technology,” “Tea New Trends,” and “Tea Ecology.” This initiative provides accurate, rich, and vivid services to local residents.
Focusing on the Core: Sharing the “Menghai Tea Fragrance” Together
Menghai County fully leverages the important role of the “Three-to-the-Countryside” activities in promoting the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas. With a focus on “delivering ideology,” “delivering culture,” “delivering law,” “delivering technology,” “delivering policy,” and “delivering services,” the county aims to enhance the levels of industrial development, rural construction, and rural governance. It also seeks to increase the competitiveness of the tea industry, the influence of tea culture, and the support of tea science and technology. This effort enhances the effectiveness of the integrated development of the first, second, and third industries in rural ancient tea mountains, allowing “China's No. 1 Pu'er Tea County” to be filled with civilizational tea fragrance.
Leveraging Strengths: Making “Impression Menghai” Tangible and Systematic
Menghai County persists in innovation while adhering to principles. Based on local conditions and categorized strategies, it follows the principle of “filling gaps as needed.” By leveraging geographical advantages and natural endowments, the county prioritizes services related to Pu'er tea industry development, integration of tea tourism and culture, and protection of ancient tea trees within the “Three-to-the-Countryside” activities. It sets up five distinct themes, including “Red Spirit Entering Tea Mountains,” “Cultural Benefits Entering Tea Mountains,” “Modern Technology Entering Tea Mountains,” “New Trends in Marriage and Childbirth Entering Tea Mountains,” and “Green Environmental Protection Entering Tea Mountains.” These themes comprehensively cover five towns and five ancient tea mountains, transforming “Three-to-the-Countryside” into “Targeted-to-the-Countryside.” At the same time, the county emphasizes sustainable development, organizing 32 units and departments to carry out concentrated demonstrations in layers and regular pairings, providing services based on needs in villages. This approach makes “Three-to-the-Countryside” a “Routine-to-the-Countryside.”
Serving the People: Making “Happy Menghai” Perceptible and Accessible
“Quick, they're doing acupuncture and moxibustion at the community center! The art troupe, college students, and our cultural team are all performing today. If you go too late, there won't be any seats left!” said Xiao Chen, a volunteer from He Kai Village in Menghai Town, smiling as he called out to surrounding villagers. Menghai County adheres to people-centered principles, focusing on meeting the new expectations of farmers for spiritual and cultural life. It works hard to do tangible and accessible good deeds that satisfy the people, striving to make the “Three-to-the-Countryside” activities a popular and beneficial brand.
Red Faith Cultivating Culture: Using classic red songs, ethnic dances, and calligraphy exhibitions to resonate with the times, these activities become artistic bridges connecting the party and the people. Through caring civil practice activities for the elderly and children, such as medical clinics, fun games, parent-child reading, and colorful painting, the elderly and children receive warm and enriching experiences.
Blue Economy Cultivating Golden Leaves: Over 20 tea garden management and live-streaming training sessions have been conducted, solidifying the tea farmers' confidence in a bountiful harvest and promoting the transformation and upgrading of the tea industry and the prosperity of tea area culture. More than ten Hani embroidery skill training sessions have been held, converting “fingertip skills” into “fingertip economy,” enabling the public to achieve nearby employment and sustained income growth, injecting new vitality into rural revitalization.
Green Ecology Beautifying Villages: Combining industrial and aesthetic needs, Coffee and cherry saplings are selected for planting along newly constructed rural roads, using green volunteer services to “plant” infinite vitality into the integrated development of ancient tea mountains. Organizing environmental improvement practices, home organization and tidying training, helps farmers develop healthy and civilized living habits.
Orange Happiness Cultivating New Trends: Supported by activities such as “Civil Practice Speaks of Integrity,” “Encounter with Thousand-Year Papermaking Techniques,” “First Lesson for Newlyweds,” and “New Trends in Marriage and Childbirth Enter Every Home,” the county addresses issues like high bride prices, lavish burials, competitive housing construction, and extravagant spending. It guides villagers to update their ideas and improve their understanding, encouraging them to advocate for, practice, and promote new trends in civilization.
Regular visits, constant presence, and continuous benefits—civilized Menghai, integrated tea industry, beautiful villages, and safe people. The ecological new landscape of livable and beautiful tea country is being gradually painted.
