The 2024 Chaozhou Gongfu Tea Conference concluded in Guangzhou on the 19th. Over 60 high-quality tea companies from Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, showcased more than a thousand varieties of Phoenix singleton tea collectively, along with a dazzling array of tea utensils, tea foods, and tea-related cultural and creative products, fully demonstrating the achievements of Chaozhou's tea industry and presenting a grand feast of gongfu tea to tea enthusiasts.
In recent years, Chaozhou has made full use of its resource and brand advantages as the “World Capital of Gongfu Tea Culture” and the “Chinese Oolong Tea Capital,” vigorously promoting tea culture, improving tea technology, expanding the tea industry, and accelerating the standardized, branded, industrialized, and quality-oriented development of Phoenix singleton tea. The city is developing organic teas, green foods, Selenium-rich products, and other items that meet market needs through multiple channels, striving to make Chaozhou gongfu tea and Phoenix singleton tea famous throughout China and the world.
According to statistics, by the end of 2023, the tea planting area in Chaozhou had reached 276,900 mu (approximately 18,460 hectares), with an annual output of 32,600 tons and an annual value of 8.195 billion yuan. Chaozhou ranks second in tea planting area and first in dry tea production among all cities in Guangdong Province.
A relevant official from Chaozhou stated that this year, the Chaozhou Gongfu Tea Conference went out of the city and was held in Guangzhou, aiming to better spread Chaozhou gongfu tea culture, comprehensively promote the Phoenix singleton tea brand, and allow more people to savor the “aroma of the king” of Phoenix singleton tea and experience the unique charm of gongfu tea.

The exhibition area for the conference covered 2,000 square meters, featuring three thematic zones: the Phoenix Singleton Tea Exhibition Area, the Hundred Singleton Tasting Area, and the Tea Culture Activity Area, with a total of 200 booths. The conference also hosted events such as the “Million Projects” Phoenix Singleton Tea Public Tasting Event and the award ceremony for the Sixth Guangdong Chaozhou Phoenix Singleton Tea Competition, as well as the award ceremony for the Chaozhou Gongfu Tea Conference Love Enterprises Association in 2023, during which the “Joint Creation for Healthy Development of the Tea Industry” initiative was announced.
It is understood that the Sixth Guangdong Chaozhou Phoenix Singleton Tea Competition adopted the theme of “One Hundred Tea Companies, One Thousand Products, Ten Thousand Tasters,” using a new method combining expert evaluation and blind tasting experiences by consumers. Thirty Phoenix singleton tea products were selected as the “Most Loved by Consumers” at the 2024 Chaozhou Gongfu Tea Conference.
In recent days, a series of high-end tea gatherings, including intangible cultural heritage tea art performances, floral art, old tea tastings, and themed tea parties, have been ongoing at the conference site. Through contextual reenactments and innovative interpretations, these activities have comprehensively presented a tea-drinking environment rich in form, color, aroma, and flavor. (End)
