Basic Introduction to Zunyi Red

“Zunyi Red” is a high-quality product formed by constantly improving the production process, based on the successful trial production of “Qian Red” in Meitan in the 1940s. It has been developed fully utilizing the national clonal cultivars series in Meitan since 2008. It has been favored by industry giants like Zhang Tianfu and Chen Zongmao as well as consumers. In its first participation in a competition for quality teas, it won gold medals at both the Guangzhou Tea Expo and the Shanghai Tea Expo.

Nutritional Value

Black tea is rich in nutrients such as carotene, vitamin A, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, , isoleucine, leucine, lysine, glutamic acid, alanine, and aspartic acid. During the fermentation process, the chemical reactions of polyphenols cause significant changes in the chemical components of fresh leaves, resulting in the production of components such as theaflavins and thearubigins. The aroma becomes significantly more pronounced, forming the unique color, aroma, and taste of black tea.

Black tea combines practicality with artistry. The tea soup is bright, amber or in color, with excellent visual effects; black tea is also very gentle, adaptable to different environments, and quite romantic and warm. History and Folklore

Meitan has a history of producing black tea. In 1940, “Mei Hong” was successfully trialed at the Meitan Experimental Tea Farm. In the era of war, “Mei Hong” earned foreign exchange through exports to purchase strategic materials, contributing to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. With the passage of time, the production process of “Mei Hong” was lost. In 2007, Ye Wensheng, who had been making black tea since childhood, with the help of some local elderly tea experts, combined the processing techniques of Fujian black tea and Zhengshan Xiaozhong black tea to innovate a suitable production process for Meitan black tea, creating high-quality black tea products. Supported by the leadership of the Meitan County government, Ye Wensheng registered the “Zunyi Red” black tea trademark in 2010. At the Xinyang Tea Expo in 2011, “Zunyi Red” ranked among the top ten black teas in the country. In 2014, as one of the key brands promoted by our province, Zunyi Red embarked on its path to fame.
