Clinical Study on the Lipid-Lowering and Weight Reduction Effects of Tibetan Tea in Patients with Hyperlipidemia
Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of Tibetan tea combined with atorvastatin calcium in treating hyperlipidemia, 80 patients with hyperlipidemia were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group of 40 each. The experimental group was treated with Tibetan tea combined with atorvastatin calcium, while the control group received only atorvastatin calcium. Changes in lipid levels, body composition measurements (body weight, body fat percentage, body mass index [BMI], waist circumference, visceral fat area), serum oxidative stress indicators [superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA)], and insulin resistance monitoring indicators [serum insulin, serum free fatty acids (FFA), homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR)] after 12 weeks of treatment were observed. Results: Compared to before treatment, the experimental group showed significantly reduced body weight, BMI, body fat percentage, waist circumference, visceral fat area, HOMA-IR, serum FFA, and MDA, as well as a significant increase in serum SOD. Compared to the control group, the experimental group had a significantly lower body fat percentage, body weight, waist circumference, visceral fat area, serum FFA, and MDA, as well as a significant increase in serum SOD.
