The production of tea in Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County has a long history, and it is one of the 42 tea-producing regions mentioned in “The Classic of Tea” by Lu Yu, the “Tea Sage.” According to the “Xiang County Annals” of the Republic of China period, the best Xiangzhou teas include the yellow-green Qingshan tea with a fragrant and smooth taste, Dongwen tea from Dazhang Township, and the slightly red Yaotea from the Yao Mountains, which greatly aids digestion without losing its flavor overnight. In 2014, the protected area for Jinxiu Black Tea was 4,000 hectares, with an annual output of 3,100 tons.
