Bamboo-Flavored Tea
The Bamboo-Flavored Tea is a distinctive method used by the Dai and Lahu people.
It gets its name from the bamboo fragrance infused into the tea leaves.
① Soak glutinous rice for two hours, then spread it at the bottom of a steamer. Place dried tea leaves on top and steam them.
② Once the tea leaves have softened and absorbed the aroma of the rice, pack them tightly into a bamboo tube.
❸ Seal the opening with sweet bamboo leaves and slowly roast the bamboo tube over charcoal until it turns yellow and the tea inside is completely dry.
❹ To consume, split open the bamboo tube, portion out some tea leaves into a bowl, and pour boiling water over them to Drink.
Roasted Tea

① Blow away the ash from charcoal, then continuously stir-fry dry tea leaves until they emit a roasted aroma. Remove any remaining charcoal.
② After roasting, place the tea leaves in a clay pot, add hot water, bring it to a boil, and it's ready to serve.
Iron Plate Roasted Tea
Iron plate roasted tea is a drinking method of the Wa people.
The tea made this way has a more pronounced bitterness.
① Place an appropriate amount of dry tea on a thin iron plate and continuously roast it until the leaves turn golden brown.
② Transfer the roasted tea into a Teapot, continue cooking until it boils, and then it can be consumed.
Roasted Pot Tea
Roasted pot tea is a drinking method commonly found among the Yi people.
The flavor is roasty and fragrant, and some families may also roast glutinous rice along with the tea before brewing.
① Combine dry tea and an appropriate amount of glutinous rice in a clay pot. Continuously shake the pot over the fire until the tea leaves become crisp and the rice turns golden brown.
② Pour a small amount of hot water into the pot and wait for 2-3 minutes. Then fill the pot with water again and return it to the charcoal fire to continue cooking the tea until it boils.
